What’s your why??
I admit it. Sometimes I look through celebrity magazines in hopes of coming across some celebrity secret fitness secret. Gwen Stefani eats what??? I’ll also admit saying things like, “I’d look that good too if I had a chef and and trainer.” It’s been and sometimes still is my excuse. Don’t let anyone tell you (especially yourself) that you have to have a trainer, a cook, a nutritionist, and Fuji water foot soaks to reach your goals. Not that it would hurt. Believe me, I’d LOVE to have a trainer and a cook. But it’s NOT necessary.
What you do need to is a healthy diet, workouts, and some spanx. Good lighting and makeup doens’t hurt either. But most importantly if you want a fit looking body (and I say “fit looking” b/c someone doesn’t have to look fit to be fit) you need to find your why. Because it’s not easy. Driving up to Wienerschnitzel is easy. Lifting weights and eating a few pounds of veggies each week is not. At least not for me. But my “why” keeps me going. My “why” is a mixture of minimizing regrets, having the energy to play with my kiddos, hoping to live a long active life with my hubby, believing my body is a vessel for God and swimsuit shopping without having a nervous breakdown. I know there are no health guarantees but I want to do my best with the body and time I have. This is why I keep piling on the salad when I’d rather drown myself in piles of macaroni and cheese. It’s better for my colon and better for jeans shopping.
What’s your why? Swimsuits and small jeans are great but I really believe we need to connect to our bigger WHY because chocolate milkshakes and frappechinos are just an easy drive-through away. Once in a while is fine. But if you are having too many once-in-a-whiles then it may be time to really look at your “whys” and connect to a reason beyond skinny jeans. There are a few…I think. 😉
Happy Wednesday friends.
