Grill Hero’s Sweet and Tangy Halibut
If you can see past the smog, keep your sanity in traffic, avoid gangs, and don’t mind earthquakes then southern California is a pretty great place to live. Not only do we have amazing weather but in our smallish town, we have almost two Trader Joe’s (I say almost because one is being built), multiple CSAs, numerous farmer’s markets, a locally owned but large health food store, and we can buy fish right off the boat.
Even if you are not out of touch with the majority of the country (I can say that I’m from Indiana.) can’t buy fish off the boat, you can still make this delicious and light grilled halibut that my husband, who from now on will be referred to as, Grill Hero, made last week despite the mayhem moving has caused.
Grill Hero’s Sweet and Tangy Halibut
2 Pounds of Halibut (or other white fish)
2 Tbs Butter
2 Large Garlic Cloves
2 Tbs Soy Sauce
1 Tbs Maple Syrup
Juice of 1/2 Lime
1/2 Tsp Ground Pepper
1. Fire up the grill.
2. While the grill is getting hot, melt butter and mix together all the rest of the ingredients.
3. Grill fish over a medium/hot grill basting like crazy.
Fish is done when it is solid to the touch, opaque, and flakes easily.
Delicious.
Serves 4
Hugs and High Fives,
Jenn

He is my Grill Hero! Someday I want to grill like him.
Next time you’re out he’ll have to give you some lessons!
I like fish, but I hate the smell of it while cooking. I need a grill master. Can I borrow yours? 😉
I love it…Grill Hero! So cute, and that recipe looks so yummy, I can’t wait for grilling season!
It’s just around the corner!!!
Awesome Grill Hero! The fish sounds awesome! And, yes, we are very lucky to live in California!
You know exactly what I’m talking about! I see your amazing boxes from the CSA! xoxo
This post was read post email I sent you about my dream I had of dinning with your family. Blog stalk!
Feel free to stalk me anytime.
Heeee! Hilarious! Love it. And jealous about buying fish right off a boat.
One of these days you can Derek can come up to the Imperial “mobile estates” and have fish with us!
Yum!
And it is for all the reasons that you listed that I have to hide under a rock in Santa Monica and pretend I am still in Minnesota and that the snow is randomly missing. Haha, LA stresses me out! 😉
I knew there was a reason we got along so well!
Your post is a tielmy contribution to the debate
Jenn! You come up with some of the best recipes. This sounds absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing. Yes, I wish I had your grill hero too!
p.s. loved your oscar review. I didn’t watch them, but I do love that dress that Halle Berry was wearing.
Thank you Debby! I agree Halle Berry’s dress was just lovely!
As much as I’m a professionally trained chef, I’m a complete dunce at the grill. I need to marry a grill hero.
