BlogHer 2011 (Better late than never) – A BlogHer Review
We are at Brent’s parents for a few days organizing and getting rid of more stuff before we head up to the San Jose area. This means I’m not working out and I’m eating too much don’t have much to say about food and fitness right now. Seriously, I think I’ve put on about 5 pounds since I’ve been here which makes me nervous because I *plan* to shoot my first workout video this weekend. Oh well. I’ve always been about keeping it real and besides fitness is about so much more than appearance. Right?
I thought I use these couple of days to share a few things I meant to share last month before I overestimated myself got so busy packing for our trip.
First up my Blogher Review!!! (I’m not sure why I’m using exclamation points when BlogHer was over 2 months ago.)
I went to BlogHer with my longtime friend, Martha. She was also the first Girl Hero I ever featured.
Blogher was held in at the convention center in San Diego about 3 hours south of where we live. I really didn’t know what to expect at the conference. In May, I went to Fitbloggin’ and had an amazing time but I knew BlogHer was much much bigger and well…I’m an introvert so big events are sort of scary for me. As it turned out I was so busy having fun I didn’t take many pictures of the actual event.
(Thanks for the picture, Martha)
I had a fabulous time. Everything was so well organized, the people were really nice, and the parties were lots of FUN! I’m not a fan of McDonald’s except for the Filet-O-Fish with extra tartar sauce but who can resist a party called CheeseburgHER where cheeseburgers are served on silver platters or Sparklecorn complete with glow sticks. I may or may not have been reminded of my old rave days. 😉
One of the highlights of my weekend was meeting Stephanie Nielson from NieNie Dialogues. The evening I found her blog, I stayed up all night reading almost the entire thing. Really, I think I ended up going to bed at 4 a.m. that day. I use the word inspiring a lot, probably too much, but Stephanie is one of those people who is inspiring in an almost inexplicable way. Meeting her was an honor and very emotional. Truthfully, I felt a little silly but I can’t help I’m naturally a very sappy emotional person.
Our last morning, we walked along the Embarcadaro where we saw the USS Midway.
Although, I was much more interested in the “Unconditional Surrender” kissing statue than the famous ship.
I love the “kissing statue”. It’s so romantic. Did I say something about being a sap?
Although I have to say this dragon was pretty rad too.
Would I go to BlogHer again? Absolutely! It was fun and inspiring. Had I not been so busy I would have been a blogging machine afterwards and I would have actually followed up with all the wonderful people I met. Oh well…there is always next year. Although by August, we plan on being in the northwest so I’ll probably have to wait until 2013 to attend BlogHer again.
Hugs and High Fives,
Jenn

Hi..I found your review of BlogHer ’11 and enjoyed reading it. I am going this year for my first time (and solo..oh boy!) I am looking forward to it, but am nervous for some reason. But NYC is my home, so I don’t have to worry about travel, so that is one less anxiety…
I’m in NYC right now. I had a great time at BlogHer last year. Wish I could go again this year. You’ll have a great time!
Oh yeah – I understand being nervous but I found that the majority of people were super nice!
