Roadtrip
Don’t tell anyone but I can be a little obsessive and what some might call a tad bit obnoxious.
For instance, packing for our road trip across the desert to Arizona on Friday I insisted that we take all our veggies (including wilted dandelion greens) from the CSA despite knowing full well we wouldn’t eat them.
Not only is our car stuffed with veggies we won’t eat.
Meow Cow HAS. TO. COME. After a 30 minute yowling ritual….
…he finds the best seat in the house.
Daddy’s Lap.
Or on our sweet entertainment system.
(Our laptop strapped onto a folding stool/cooler. Like I said, SWEET.)
Yeah we’re “those kind” of people.
It wasn’t just the cat and the veggies. Thursday, I started the 10,ooo swings challenge. I’m hoping it will help lift my butt prepare my hands for the RKC certification in August and I felt like I needed a mini goal to keep me motivated. My plan, to get all the 10K swings done, is to do 400 for 25 out of the 30 days. So the kettlebells came with the veggies and the cat. Not only were they packed but they were swung. I got in 150 swings before leaving.
Then….
50 more when we stopped at Elle Pollo Loco
60 more in the In-N-Out Parking lot looking hot and not at all like a freak in front of my van.
It was a road trip. Don’t judge b/c I had CSA veggies packed…remember? 😉
50 more in front of the random tank display at sunset at Chiriaco Summit where we stopped to get gas.
I was going to finish the last 90 swings when we got to Phoenix but because of the traffic in LA we were two hours later than expected.
I also thought my self-professed “quirkiness” might be wearing thin in the eyes of my photographer husband. So I made a judgement call and decided to finish up my swings on Saturday without pictures.
Hugs and High Fives,
Jenn

God blessed you with a very good man. Maybe you could’ve added your wilted dandelions to your lettuce wrapped, missing the bun, In-N-Out burger. ” You know I don’t even miss the special sauce. ” lol
What a road trip indeed!
Love the pics. Especially Meow Cow…how true it is to have them meow and then calm down.
Good job getting in those swings!!! Love that you just do them whenever and where ever you can!!!
You can’t look like like a freak doing swings in camo pants. Jus saying, I wouldn’t have messed with you!
How long are you in AZ for? Just Phoenix?
Ha!!! It’s all an act.
We are here until Fri or Sat and only in Phoenix.
Ha- love your commitment! And the howling cat pic.
This makes me feel a lot better about lugging my KB and a cooler full of food to Florida with me next month.
Your awesome. Those pictures rock.
You are a nut and that is exactly why I love you. Have fun!
I like the commitment, the cat and rigged laptop (plus the family). What a fun trip.
hahahaha i would LOVE to go on a road trip with you!!
good job getting in the swings—you are dedicated! loved the cat pic as well!
OMG ~ I LOVE that you took your CSA veggies with you – you never know, you “might” eat some of them 😀 The cat too – hilarious!
Ok, I am super impressed you really took your workout on the road. I NEED to learn from you Jenn…maybe you should be my personal trainer 😀
Have a fun trip!
The meow cow name and pictures are hilarious. And your commitment with taking the veggies and the kettleball is admirable. What is CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture – We get our veggies from a small farm in our community. We pay monthly dues and pick up a box of seasonal veggies weekly.
You crack me up! I love how you took those veggies and your camos – perfect b/c you are so hard core! I am impressed. Another reason those kbs are awesome – easy to travel with! Hope you had a great trip!
What weight is that bell? You and I would be perfect road trip buddies. I brought my TRX on our last vacay and whipped it out at rest stops. Made the kids run laps around the biffies. And I totally would have brought the CSA veggies too:)
One is 26lb and the other is a 35lb. Hilarious about your TRX. I would like to try one of those but the price tag is a little steep for a cheapo like me.
Hahaha I love that your swinging that everywhere you go! Now that’s dedication!
Hi Jenn!!!!! So excited for tomorrow! See you at noon and cannot wait! Glad you took all your CSA veggies, I would have done the same, “just in case” I wanted to eat it, but knowing I wouldnt use it. LOL
Noon baby. Book it. xoxox
And I am going to go to the gym before hand, turning over new leaves I tell ya
Haha! I love this! I totally “get” you taking your veggies – I would’ve done the same thing. This post is hilarious…I love that you did your swings wherever you could ’em – that’s commitment! Thank goodness for patient and understanding husbands, right?
You are so right about still having our grandparents. Sometimes I think I take it for granted, forgetting that everyone doesn’t still have their grandparents. I am so thankful, though!
OMG. I LOLOLOL’d for the entirety of this post. First off- you see the area in your photo between the 2nd and 3rd windmill? Half way down the mountain? That’s me. Gesturing to you “Why didn’t you call me and we could have met for 100 swings at the windmill farm”!?!?!?!??!?
OK Meow cow and Samantha have to meet (he’s a boy right?). Sam’s a crappy traveler too (despite having 15 yrs to practice) but she also settles finally.
LOVE the fact that you did swings at all your stops in your cammo pants- totally something I would have done. And the CSA veggies? Um, yah, I would have done that too. Did you read about when we were facing certain death in Hawaii but I had to boil eggs and fry fish just in case we survived? There must be a gene that we possess.
Can’t wait to hear about your meetup tomorrow! hurrah!
I love that you broke out the kettleball on stops! LOVE it! Sounds kinda like something I would do…
hahah i love the fact that youpacked your car full of veggies! i think I would do the same thing, because I knew if I left them they would go bad, and if i took them I would probably munch on themin the car!
awesome workou with the kettlebell!!! next time do it at a red light so all the cars can look in AWWWEEEE
Beyond the veggies… I just can’t believe that you brought your cat!
My cats would go crazy and scratch the interior of my SUV…
I always thought that a key benefit to having a cat is you can fill their food and water bowls to the brim, leave a couple of clean litter boxes on the floor and they’re fine till you return.
I’m sure your kitty appreciated the adventure. 😉 Love the pics – thanks for sharing Jenn.
All I could think of is passerby-ers thinking “what is that girl doing???!!!” LOL
You go girl!!!
Ok I had to come back for two reasons: The photo of meow cow with his mouth wide open is emblazoned on my mind and makes me laugh. And also I realized that I had my cammo pants with me in the desert- we could have been twins. That’s all.
I always clean out the fridge and bring my veggies with me too when I head from Vegas up to SLC! My brother always questions my wilted veggies and cheese that needs the mold scraped off, but we always eat them! I just hate wasting food!
Good luck on you RKC!! One of my best friends from college got certified last year and that program is intense!!!
